The Jyotish Praveena course, offered by the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences (ICAS) in Malleshwaram, is a one-year foundational astrology program delivered entirely through classroom teaching. Course Overview
The course provides a comprehensive curriculum beginning with basic astronomy and horoscopy principles. Students gain an understanding of the zodiac signs, planets, rasis (signs), and astrological houses, alongside foundational techniques for interpreting horoscopes. This includes learning how to evaluate a horoscope’s strength, assess planetary transits, and use muhurta (auspicious timing) for planning events.
Curriculum and Structure
The program is structured into two semesters, each with two primary subjects:
Basic Astronomy and Horoscope Casting – Covers astronomical calculations for horoscope casting and introduces the birth chart's significance.
Zodiac, Planets, and Rasis – Examines zodiac signs, planetary influences, and rasis, and their role in horoscope interpretation.
Houses and Basic Delineation – Focuses on the astrological houses and interpreting their positions within a chart.
Transit Effects and Muhurta – Teaches planetary transit interpretation and the selection of auspicious timing for various activities.

Duration: 1 Year
Class Schedule: Held on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays, if a holiday)
Location: Available in major Indian cities, including Bangalore, Karnataka
Medium of Instruction: Hindi, English, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi
Examinations: Held twice yearly, in June and December, at designated centers
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
Age: Minimum of 18 years
Membership: Life Member of ICAS
Educational Qualification: Passed SSLC (or equivalent) exam
